This primarily private island was once known as ‘Little Hog Island’ during colonial times and is now proudly part of the city of Portland, Maine. There is a special connection between Great Diamond Island and Little Diamond Island—at low tide, Little Diamond Island connects to Great Diamond via a semi-submerged sandbar. So, you can casually stroll from one island to the other through the scenic Lamson Cove. This island is quiet, serene, and community-focused with roughly 60 homes on the island. The travel time from Portland to the docks of Little Diamond Island is roughly 15 minutes one-way.
Little Diamond Island offers great vacation and home rentals with expansive, 360 views of the clear waters of Casco Bay. No matter what budget or level of comfort, there’s surely a great spot for you to sit back, unwind, and enjoy island time.
