Come to Maine Maritime Museum, conveniently located in Bath, for a Burnt Island Lighthouse Adventure! Board our 50-passenger tour boat, cruise the winding Sasanoa River through Hell’s Gates and Townsend Gut to Burnt Island at the head of Boothbay Harbor. Spend at least 30 minutes ashore exploring this historic five-acre island’s nature trails, the 1857 keeper’s house, and the still-active 1821 rubble stone light tower (open for the duration of the visit), or simply bring along a late-day lunch at the picnic tables and marvel in the beauty of the island. Beer, wine and snacks are available to purchase. The return trip will pass two additional lighthouses, Cuckolds Island Light and Hendricks Head Light, weather permitting. Two days of museum admission is included with your purchase!

The island is accessible from the dock by a ramp. Please note the ramp is not ADA compliant and, depending on the tide, it can be steep. The trail to the lighthouse is uneven with rocks and roots, and visitors should come prepared with appropriate footwear and insect repellent. Golf cart rides to may be available—please call ahead to confirm. On the island, there are also bathrooms and running water.
