Longfellow’s Haunted House

Join us for spine-tingling peek into the past at the Wadsworth-Longfellow House! This special tour, based on Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem, “Haunted Houses” is written and led by long-time guide James Horrigan and evokes the various family members who died in the Wadsworth-Longfellow House and their relationship to the family home over its long history. Join us to conjure their memories, enjoy a special eventide tour, and savor the spirit of Longfellow’s poetry.

This 90-minute guided tour is recommended for guests aged 18 and older.

Advance reservations are required, tickets are not available at the door.

Each tour is limited to 12 guests.

About the presenter: James V. Horrigan is a writer and performer and is about to begin his 18th season as a Guide at the Wadsworth-Longfellow House. His work has appeared in Portland Magazine, Down East Magazine, Maine Sunday Telegram, Portland Press Herald, The Bollard, the Boston Globe Magazine, and Islands Magazine. He lives in Scarborough with his wife Lauren and their children Helen and George.

The tour begins at 6 p.m, leaving from the MHS Museum Store, lasting 90 minutes. Unfortunately, late guests (6:15 or later) are unable to join a performance in progress.
