How to view your Visit Portland referral traffic
Visit Portland has set up a campaign profile in your google analytics account by utilizing a “UTM code”.
This tells you when a user from our VisitPortland.com site has clicked on your “Visit Website” button.
This is referred to as a referral.
A UTM code is a simple code that you can attach to a custom URL in order to track a source, medium, and campaign name. This enables Google Analytics to tell you where searchers came from as well as what campaign directed them to you.
Here is where you should look for these stats in your Google Analytics account:
Go to Acquisition -> Overview -> All Traffic -> Source/Medium to view traffic
Go to Acquisition -> Campaigns -> All Campaigns to view traffic based on your custom campaign names.
Look for your Visit Portland campaign name: VisitPortland / DirectoryProfile
Tip: google “UTM codes” and find more help about reading these stats.
Tip: create your own UTM Codes if you are buying an ad with Visit Portland and send us the code so we can add it to your url for the ad. This will allow you to track your ad stats using your own google analytics account.
